Full basement legalization and renovation of a semi-detached brick home in Toronto. The goal was to turn a dated basement into a safe, code-compliant and fully legal secondary suite. On the legalization side, we completed all required fire separation work between the basement and the main house, installed new egress windows in the bedrooms to provide safe emergency exits, and added interconnected smoke alarms throughout the unit. Alongside the legal work, we fully renovated the space: new vinyl plank flooring throughout, rebuilt stairs with new treads and handrail, a brand-new kitchen with clean white cabinetry and new countertops, and a completely updated bathroom where the old tub was removed and replaced with a modern walk-in standing shower with a black-framed sliding glass door, a floating vanity and a new toilet. The result is a bright, modern, move-in-ready basement suite that meets safety requirements and adds real value to the property.
